Prof. Dr. Helmut Haussmann has been Chairman of the Advisory Board of GEMINI Executive Search since 2001. He was part of the top management of the international IT and Consulting company Capgemini from 1991.
Following a business career as Managing Partner of a medium-sized company, Prof. Dr. Haussmann was elected spokesman of the FDP (Liberal Democratic Party) parliamentary party on Economic Affairs in 1980. In 1984, he was nominated Secretary General of the Federal FDP, and from 1988 to 1991, during the period of Germany's reunification, he served as Federal Minister of Economics. From 1976 to 2002, he was a member of the German Bundestag (Lower House), first serving on the Budget Committee, then on the Economic Committee, before being assigned to the Committees on Foreign and European Affairs. From 1991 to 2002, he was the Spokesman for European Affairs and Chairman of the Working Group on International Affairs of the FDP parliamentary party.
Prof. Dr. Helmut Haussmann studied Economic and Social Sciences at the Universities of Tübingen, Hamburg and Erlangen-Nürnberg and was awarded a PhD in 1975. Since 1996, he has been teaching International Management at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg as an Honorary Professor and since 2010 is teaching International Business at the University of Tübingen. Prof. Dr. Haussmann has been a representative of the German Federal Government in the Singapore-based Asia-Europe-Foundation (ASEF) since 1997. He is also a standing member of the External Board of Trustees with the Federal Ministry of Economics and Labour.
Prof. Dr. Helmut Haussmann is author of the GEMINI study "Hidden Champions" and the GEMINI Report "Sense of responsibility and sustainability - Family-owned businesses as a role model".
